I use affiliate links on my blog which means if you click them and make a purchase, I get a commission.
To be transparent, I want to also talk about my relationship to some affiliates.
I was previously one of SiteGround’s super affiliates, referring nearly 3,000 customers to them. After their service declined around 2011, I started recommending primarily Cloudways. Cloudways was bought by DigitalOcean and soon after, I started recommending Rocket.net (primarily) for cloud hosting and a handful of affiliates for sharing hosting (ChemiCloud, NameHero, and MechanicWeb to name a few).
Ethics matter to me, so when I publish a negative review (or remark) about a brand, it can get me banned from their affiliate program. This was the case with SiteGround, Kinsta, and WP Rocket.
I do my best to stay true to consumers and try not to let commissions get in the way of truthful reviews. This is why I’ve refrained from using affiliate links to many (what I believe are inferior) services. TLDR: I ain’t a sellout, and that’s why my blog got popular in the first place.
Affiliate links are my main source of income and I really appreciate you using them to not only support me, but to support (often smaller) hosting companies who offer a much better/faster service than most popular ones.
I don’t accept affiliate solicitations, so if you’re an affiliate manager, don’t even think about it! Create a good service and I’ll find you. Or just tell me why I should recommend you over the other hosts.
